G8: This week in 8th grade ELA, students reading Ray Bradbury's "The Martian Chronicles", are analyzing the author's use of symbolism by examining the imagery with the novel's opening chapters. Students reading Mary Shelley's "Frankenstein" are discussing parallels between the novel's protagonist, Victor Frankenstein, and the Greek myth of Prometheus, through the lens of Romanticism. Students are further developing an understanding of these themes through an exploration of J. Robert Oppenheimer's creation of the atomic bomb and his regrets in the years following.
