Hello Tigershark families,

Just a few reminders:  Tonight, April 20th, from 7-9pm is our 8th grade formal.  The 8th graders are very excited for this event. The Media Center will be open from 6:30-8:30 for 8th grade families only; who need assistance with signing up for 23/24 transportation.   Also, NO SCHOOL for students tomorrow, April 21st.

Doing some spring cleaning?  Have clothes you would like to donate?  Stop by and drop them in the yellow Planet Aid bin near the baseball field.  Portion of the proceeds is donated to Wilde Lake Middle. 

Quarter 3 Report Cards

Quarter 3 report cards will be available in HCPSS Connect Synergy after 4 p.m. on Tuesday, April 18. Directions on how to access report cards can be found online.

8th grade tshirts are now available for sale.  Students received order forms this week.  

June 12th- 8th Grade Family Block Party Celebration-  Just as last year, this event is not a formal event.  It will be similar to our beginning of year block party.

Pre order thru May 19th for $25!  After the 19th the price will go up to $30.

The Wilde Lake Middle School Tiger Shark Theater Company proudly presents, Really Rosie!

This musical follows a typical summer day in the life of several neighborhood friends.

SUMMER PROGRAMS REGISTRATION

Online enrollment requests for HCPSS’ 2023 Summer Programs for currently enrolled HCPSS students is open. Enrollment requests can be made via HCPSS Connect Synergy by a parent, guardian, school counselor or school achievement liaison. Enrollment requests do not guarantee placement in courses.

Notes from the Health Suite:

IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR THOSE WITH MEDICAL ASSISTANCE  Due to COVID-19 pandemic, MA has been automatically renewed since March 2020.  AUTOMATIC RENEWALS WILL STOP AS OF APRIL 30,2023. Please call the Health Department Insurance line at 410-313-5845 to check your status.  They will set up an appointment if needed.

In School Immunization clinic for rising 7th Graders will take place on May 16, 2023.  Be on the lookout for additional info.

Reduced Cost Dental Services  HCC's Dental Hygiene Center hosts dental exams and services for $10 for children and $20 for students for any families without health insurance! Visit howardcc.edu/dentalcenter or 443-518-1570 to request an appointment.

 

PTSA Corner

Next PTSA Meeting:

The next PTSA meeting had to be postponed until next Thursday April 27 at 7PM over ZOOM. All are welcome to attend!

Open Positions for the ‘23/‘24 School Year:  We are starting to plan for the PTSA Board for next school year, and we have several open positions. If you are interested in the open position or learning more about them, please email us (email below). Open Positions include: President, Vice President, Membership, Spirit Wear, Restaurant Nights, and PTACHC Rep.

May 18th PTSA Meeting, Special Guests:  Join us at our monthly Zoom meeting to meet the Principal, PTSA President, and Booster Representative from Atholton High School. They asked to join us, and will be introducing themselves and answering questions at the beginning of our meeting at 7 PM. (We will be reaching out to the PTSA at Wilde Lake HS to see if they would be interested in joining us as well.)

Summer Sports Camps

The Wilde Lake Athletic Department and Boosters Club are proud to offer Summer Sports Camps each year! We encourage participation by anyone interested, regardless of skill level or experience. Camps are led by WLHS Coaches and associated with extensive youth coaching experience at all levels. This year's camps include Basketball, Football, Soccer, Boys' Lacrosse, Cheerleading, Field Hockey, Softball, and Speed Training. HC DrugFree Updates

Medication & Sharps Disposal Event: Free. The next safe and convenient drive-thru medication & sharps disposal event will be held on Saturday, April 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Wilde Lake Village Center Parking lot near the Swim Center. HC DrugFree is accepting prescription and over-the-counter medications, sharps (needles, syringes, EpiPens, etc.), vapes, inhalers, veterinary medication and more. Medication will be guarded/transported by Howard County Police. We are in need of Teen and Adult, and medically trained adult volunteers! Groups encouraged to volunteer. Free Parenting Classes (open to grandparents too): Free. Guiding Good Choices is an evidence-based, interactive prevention program that provides families with the skills and knowledge to reduce the risk that their children will use drugs and alcohol or engage in other dangerous behaviors. Howard County parents, guardians and grandparents will learn how to encourage your child to adopt healthy attitudes and behaviors, how to communicate more effectively, how to build a relationship of trust, and much more!
