Happy Friday Tiger Shark Families!

Today is the last day of 2nd quarter.  We are half way thru the school year.  Quarter 2 Report Cards will be available to view on Tuesday, January 31 after 4:00 p.m. Printed copies are not being issued. Parents can view their child's report card through HCPSS Connect.

As a reminder, school is closed for students on Monday, January 23rd. Quarter 3 classes start on Tuesday, January 24th. Please log in to HCPSS Connect to view your child's new Quarter 3 schedule.

Message from Healthroom:

Wilde Lake Middle School will have a dental clinic. The clinic is  scheduled for February 9th. Forms went home this week. Please check with your student to make sure they have received a Dental Form.pdf   Please return the completed form to the home room teacher.  All forms are due by January 24, 2023. WLHS DANCE COMPANY:

It's time for the Wilde Lake High School Dance Company & Placement Auditions! 

If you are planning to take Dance at Wilde Lake High School next year and have prior dance training in ballet, modern, jazz, or other styles of dance, completing the audition is highly recommended so that you may be placed in the appropriate level for the upcoming school year.   If you do not have prior dance experience, you do NOT need to complete the audition.  Simply sign up for Dance I, the beginner level dance class!

To be considered, dancers must complete all 3 parts of the audition by the due dates listed.

Part 1:  Dancer Questionnaire  (Due Friday, January 27th at 3:00pm)

Part 2:  Teacher Recommendations (Due Friday, January 27th at 3:00pm)

Part 3:  In Person Dance Audition  (Monday, January 30th & Tuesday January 31st)  

Please note that freshmen are only eligible for placement in Dance 1 - 4 or Junior Dance Company G/T as specified in the HCPSS Course Catalog.  Freshmen are not eligible for placement in Senior Dance Company G/T.

SUMMER PROGRAMS REGISTRATION
Online enrollment requests for HCPSS’ 2023 Summer Programs for currently enrolled HCPSS students will open Wednesday, February 1 at 6:00 p.m. Enrollment requests can be made via HCPSS Connect Synergy by a parent, guardian, school counselor or school achievement liaison. TCOE COMMUNITY ACADEMY
The Council of Elders of the Black Community of Howard County (TCOE), in collaboration with the Howard County Public School System, will host a TCOE Community Academy on Healthy and Unhealthy Relationships on Saturday, January 28 from 9:00-10:30 am. The event will be virtual. The session will provide information regarding healthy and unhealthy relationships. Representatives from HCPSS, as well as Howard County community organizations, will provide resources and education on managing peer conflict, identifying abuse in teen relationships, and identifying skills and strategies to intervene if needed. Registration is required, and families can complete the registration linked here. 

Career and Technical Education (CTE) Webinars for Middle School Students/Parents
The Career and Technical Education (CTE) Program wants to ensure that all students and parents have a better understanding of CTE course offerings. With 24 career pathways, there are often many misconceptions related to CTE. To ensure that all students and parents make informed decisions with their middle and high school course selections, a virtual webinar session will be offered to support understanding and planning for rising 7th and 8th grade parents/students. This webinar will be held on Tuesday, January 31 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Registration is required for attendance. Use this link to register. A confirmation email will be sent upon completion of registration, and meeting reminders will be sent prior to the webinar.

Spirit Wear Sale: The WLMS PTSA has Spirit Wear T-shirts for sale for only $10 each! Sizes are Adult S to Adult 2XL. Cash, Check, or online payment on our PTSA website are available. Once payments are received (please place cash or check in an envelope, label with your name and “For the PTSA” and turn into the main office) we will process orders and arrange in alphabetical order by last name for students to pick up in the Main Office. Days to pick-up orders will be announced. Please fill out the following SURVEY with your name and T-Shirt sizes for your order.
