Happy Friday, Tiger Shark Families!

Today the members of the WLMS debate workshop competed against Bonnie Branch Middle School and Dunloggin Middle School.  The resolution that was the debate topic was "Be it resolved that the US shall ban the production of all two axel gas powered vehicles by the year 2030".  While the results of the judges were not as we would have hoped, our team presented very valid and on point. I could not be more proud of the efforts and dedication of my 20+ debaters and hope that those in 6th and 7th grade return to the team next year.

Kudos to all! –Mr. Spicher

**TENTATIVE LAST DAY OF SCHOOL**

As of Wednesday, March 16, 2022, HCPSS has used four inclement weather days this

school year and made up one of those days by opening schools February 21. As such,

the last day for pre-K/RECC students is currently Tuesday, June 14, and for K-12

students is Friday, June 17, 2022. Full details on the calendar are available online.

RECORD STUDENT NAME PRONUNCIATION IN PARENTVUE

Parents may use the ParentVUE mobile app to record the proper pronunciation of a

child's name. This recording will be available to teachers, school administrators, and

school support staff. Detailed directions are available online.

CELL PHONE/EAR BUDS POLICY

Students are expected to keep their cell phones/ear buds off and away during school

hours, including lunch and recess. Failure to follow these guidelines will result in their

phone/ear buds being confiscated and placed in a secure location. The student will be

able to pick up their phone/ear buds at the end of the day. We will call parents to keep

you updated if we have any concerns.

The rationale for this policy change is two-fold:

1. Phones/ear buds are becoming a distraction for student learning.

2. Phones/ear buds are not being used appropriately at school.

This policy will be communicated to students by teachers and administration. Please take

time to review the cell phone/ear buds expectations with your child. Thank you for your

support.
