Dear Wilde Lake Middle School eighth-grade families,
For the coming 2023-2024 school year, the Howard County Public School System will pilot a full-time virtual program option for HCPSS students who are entering ninth grade. This program is grant-funded with limited enrollment. It is designed for students who would benefit from learning virtually for the 2023-2024 school year; including, but not limited to, those who are unable to regularly attend school due to a medical or social-emotional diagnosis.
Students who thrive in a virtual learning environment typically demonstrate consistent academic performance, are able to complete assignments independently, and may have previous experience/success with virtual learning. The full-time pilot is not designed for students struggling with academic performance.

Families are asked to complete an online interest survey, only if they would like their child to be considered for the full-time virtual program. If your child plans to attend a traditional HCPSS high school next year, no action is required.
