May 12, 2023

Hello Tigershark families,

It is hard to believe we only have 21 days left of the 2022/2023 school year. Today our 6th and 7th graders earned the opportunity to participate in an Afterschool Social. It was great to see how many students joined their friends and classmates to dance, play basketball and  game in our media center.  In the coming weeks, we look forward to celebrating our 8th graders as they get ready to move onto high school.  Please be on the lookout for information coming home with your 8th graders.

We are halfway through the 4th quarter, this is the perfect time to check Canvas for grades and missing assignments.  We are finishing up Math MCAP testing  on Tuesday 5/16  and Wednesday 5/17. Please make sure that your child brings their fully charged laptop to school and their charger.

WLMS PTSA celebrated our staff with a delicious lunch from Cozy Cafe, scratch off tickets, yummy cookies donated by Mad River Bakes, chair massages from LivingWellness and the staff’s favorite…. a popcorn bar!  We thank you and appreciate your generosity this week.

Bus Update

Thank you to all the families who have registered for bus transportation next year.  There are 239 students who remain unregistered. If your children are eligible for bus transportation you must register through HCPSS Connect Synergy to receive bus service for the 2023-2024 school year.  This new process will take place annually to help HCPSS plan for student ridership and to make routes more efficient. Registration for 2023-2024 bus service is open now through June 1.

Visit https://www.hcpss.org/schools/transportation/registration/. for instructions on how to register and more information. Families who reside in non-transportation areas are not eligible for bus transportation and do not need to take any action. Find the new non-transportation areas for your school online. Students who receive transportation as part of their Individualized Education Program (IEP) or 504 Plan do not need to register.

Doing some spring cleaning?  Have clothes you would like to donate?  Stop by and drop them in the yellow Planet Aid bin near the baseball field.  Portion of the proceeds is donated to Wilde Lake Middle.

FROM THE HEALTH ROOM

Attention rising 7th graders for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year; the Maryland State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene requires all 7th graders in the state of Maryland have one Tdap and one Meningitis (MCV4) vaccine BEFORE entering school.

Current 6th grade students who haven't received these vaccinations should have received a letter and consent form about the Wilde Lake Middle Vaccine Clinic being held on May 16th by the Howard County Health Department, where your child can receive those vaccines here at school- FREE.

Your child may not be able to attend school this Fall until these vaccines are complete and the health room has a copy on file.
Vaccination records can be sent to Joni_Dorsey@hcpss.org or Thomasena_Brown@hcpss.org
