We're coming up on the first official school day in our “New Net-Zero WLMS Building”!

In preparation for this transition, please note several important dates for you and your child to put on your calendar:

Monday, December 12th

• 4:00-6:00 p.m. – Community “Open House” to say “Good-bye” to our current building. More details to follow.
• 7:00 p.m. – Farewell Music Concert featuring the WLMS Band, Strings & Chorus

Thursday, December 22nd – School will be closed for WLMS Students so that school staff can prepare new classrooms for instruction.

Friday, December 23rd – School will be closed for WLMS Students so that school staff can prepare new classrooms for instruction.

• WLMS is working with the HCPSS Food & Nutrition Office to provide an opportunity for all students to come to school on both 12/22 & 12/23 for a hot lunch between the times of 10:30-12:00. More information will follow.

Monday, January 2nd – First Student Day in the “New Net-Zero WLMS Building”

Sunday, January 8th

• 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. – Ribbon Cutting & Community Open House

During the month of December, we are planning to arrange special class field trips to our new building during the school day. We hope this will support students in acclimating to their new school home and create excitement for the transition. The next few months will be busy and exciting as we reflect on our history as a school community and build new memories together!

Come join us to say “goodbye” to our original Wilde Lake Middle School location before it closes at the end of December. Take a trip down memory lane and explore the building, a historical Columbia landmark, one last time.

• Commemorative t-shirts will be for sale.
• Be part of history; pre‑order a personalized engraved brick to be placed in the front walkway of the new building.
• Light refreshments provided.

January 8, 2017, 1:00-4:00 p.m.

Come join us to say “hello” to the new Wilde Lake Middle School, Maryland’s First Net Zero School.

The school is designed as a LEED Platinum building with solar panels and a geothermal heat pump system. The goal is to produce as much energy as we use in a year.

• Ribbon cutting ceremony – 1 pm.
• Open house until 4 pm.
• Guided tours of the most energy-conscious and efficient school in the state.
• Light refreshments provided.
